Hover Craft is so OVER!

WHEW! This concludes the holiday art fairs of the season. It has been a busy-crazy-fun sort of year and I am happy to be finished up... for now...

Sunday the 8th I participated in a local art and craft event called Hover Craft MKE. Sunday December 8th was also a SNOWSTORM in Milwaukee (BOO!) So seriously THANK YOU to everyone who came out and special thanks to all my friends pals and acquaintances who visited and bought stuff! You guys are awesome and I officially love you! SUPER HUGE SPECIAL THANKS to Jess Yocherer who shared a booth with me! (and her sweet amazing family who did 100 percent of the helping!!)

Oh and um..Thanks again to Jess for the picture! Check out our cute lil booth. You might be noticing the fake vintage TV in the center displaying a festive Yule Log, can you feel the warmth and cozyness through the photo? That is all Jess too - (its an MDF box she handmade and a tablet!!!)

So of course I had paper Doll Sets for sale:

And Owl Tote bags:

New for this sale I had some creepy bird digital artwork I made printed as oversized Postcards - I think they make nice prints and would look pretty good framed but of course they work for mailing too!

I also made a bunch of original art for this sale - Ive been HUNG-UP on these creepy birds these days LET ME TELL YOU! They are so enjoyable to draw, each one is different and has it's own personality... They are spooky weird and cute all at the same time. I sold most of my stock (all but one of the single headed birds) And I started with a lot...

Here they are pre-framing

I have a few left over and I promised to put them up on Etsy. Here is a sneak peek of what will be available in my shop soon:

Ive got a deer and an insect eft that I'll be posting up there too. Dont they look cute as a set??

Okay I'm off to ETSY where I will start making listings. THANKS ALL! PEACE!!! <3 <3 <3

Group Gallery Show!!!

So this Friday was pretty awesome - I was invited to participate in a Group Gallery show at Hot*pop a local gallery and boutique in Milwaukee's Third Ward. I have to admit it was preeeeeety sweet to see my name all BIG like that all over that wall. Go ~Stevie~It's~your~birthday~ Isn't that cursive font super cute??

(Thank you Michelle for the pictures!!)

So I don't know if anyone remembers this - but I do not have a smart phone. I instagram... but it's a total sham... I have to borrow my bf's phone to do it. So when my super cool pal and coworker came to visit me at the opening I was not above asking her if I could sign into instagram on her phone to share a photo - and YOU KNOW SHE IS AWESOME because she was (pretty much) cool with it :P

I am so grateful to everyone who came out (special thanks to Jess - my wingman!) And thanks to Hot*Pop for putting on such a good time.

The work that I displayed is all colored pencil on recycled brown jute paper. The frames measure 8x8 but the actual pieces are more like 5x5. I did have the images scanned so I can perhaps look into having them made into prints ((which I would love to offer on my Etsy soon))

Here is a sneak at some of the artz

Go Home Barbie Your'e Drunk

Go Home Barbie Your'e Drunk

Truth be told this is actually a Polly Doll. I was looking at photos from a doll collector on Flickr and was inspired. I have so much REAL WORK to do I almost cant believe I strayed from it to do this thing but what can I say. I was moved.

*I just noticed that I forgot to color in the triangle of shadow between her arm and torso - haha OOPS!

I Just Thought I would Share Something I am Working on....

I need to work out some art ideas so I picked up a little 6x6 sketchbook (by Kona) and decided to try and make some small scale sketches with the intention of making a larger version later on. I have to figure out 5 pieces and since I have been going nuts with these birds lately I decided to just start with them here also. I am really liking where this is going...

Spooky Forest Illustration - detail

It's got this sort of strange-forest-spooky-curious-wonderland-dream-vibe and IM INTO IT!!! -- I do feel like I need to put a little more thought into the figure. I didnt have any reference I just sort of sketched this person as a placeholder until I could come up with something a little bit more thought out.... but just typing that is making me feel bad for her. Like here is this weird person who I gave ~life to~ (why creator?) and I'm indifferent to them. Does she deserve that? She didnt ask to be brought into this world... She now just exists here in this strange place and you cant even see her eyes. Its so disrespectful what I have done to her... lol just kidding!!....sorta.

Spooky Forest Illustration I am working on

It has been a real challenge working so SMALL lately - both here and with my tiles from yesterday I feel like I am just scratching the surface with a needle fine tip for hours on end. My hand and eyes hurt after a while but I just dont want to stop! I'm wondering if I just NEED to work small for a while to sort-of 'feed a need' and ride this thing out till it's through. Sometimes you just cant MAKE yourself do something despite how much you think you want to. My plan is to just keep working on these tiny things until all of my ideas are figured out and maybe by the time I finish I'll be sick of it and ready to work larger. I hope you can get a decent sense of scale from that photo up there with the pencils. 6 inches is pretty dinky!
